I have recently been introduced to the Horse Boy Method from a training I attended in Denver that focused on the bond between humans and animals. At this training I was fortunate to hear Rupert Isaacson speak about how he came to create this method as he learned about his own child’s healing through horses and movement. Rupert’s son is on the Autism Spectrum and through his journey with horses, he was able to find create this wonderful method that can be applied to everyone. This method uses nature, movement, and taking the child’s lead to learn more about their world.
I love this piece on breaking down what happens in the body when we feel stress and how it can impact learning. It also discusses ways we can use movement to help reset the body and promote an environment ideal for learning.
The main points that I want to pass along:
- STRESS IMPAIRS LEARNING
- WE LEARN BETTER WHEN WE FEEL SAFE
- MOVEMENT PROMOTES LEARNING
We already incorporate as much movement as we can into our office and therapy sessions.
