Kid Talk’s very own therapist Uzma decided that Kid Talk needed a little color outside the building. She went on a secret mission with some kid talk families to yarn bomb the outside railing of our building to surprise owner and therapist of Kid Talk Robi Heath.
For those of you whom are not familiar with yarn bombing, it’s a really wonderful and creative way to add color with yarn knitted or otherwise to almost anything, ANYTHING!
So our awesome Kid Talk families and staff knitted yarn through out the week. Everybody got to choose their own colors, and however they wanted to knit or make their yarn (there were a couple of hand kitting lessons provided during the week!). The week leading up to the yarn bombing we received emails from parents letting us know how excited they were, and how they have shopped at places to buy yarn. There was such a feeling of excitement and a deep sense of community among all our families and Kid Talk.
On Saturday the yarn bombing day, we all showed up with our long and short yarn knitted contributions, and one by one we twirled, weaved, looped, strung yarn all over the railing. Each of us feeling pride, and joy, excitement and togetherness in this project. The final result looked amazing, so colorful, full of happiness, especially knowing that some very special hands participated in creating this masterpiece…
Sooo…”Surprise Robi!! ” 🙂
