Teenagers are in a unique and fun stage of life where they are in between the child and adult worlds. Therapy can help bridge these two worlds and help teens to become stronger and more resilient. Developmentally teenagers experience a surge in development in their emotional part of their brain that has more intense emotions then a child or adult brain. Teenagers are more likely to act on impulse, misread/misinterpret social cures and emotions, get into accidents of all kinds, get involved in fights, and engage in dangerous and risky behavior. Also Teenagers are less likely to think before they act, pause to consider potential consequences of their actions, or modify their behaviors. Because teenagers are in this special development stage, we utilize a multitude of techniques such as music, media, art, sand tray and other therapeutic activities.
