How much does therapy cost?
The standard counseling fee for service is $100.00 for one 60 minute individual session with a fully Licensed Professional Counselor . We offer a reduced rate of $75.00 for one 60 minute individual session with a Licensed Professional Counselor-Intern. Several insurance plans are also accepted as a method of payment.
How do I initiate services?
Please call the office or email to schedule an initial visit. If you are planning to bring your child in for therapy, the first session is for parents only so that you have the opportunity to meet the therapist, discuss your concerns, and we can discuss as team how we can help your family. The second appointment will be the child’s first session with their special helper AKA their therapist.
How often are session scheduled?
For therapy to help create change, weekly appointments are encouraged.
What about absences from school?
Your therapist will provide you with a note so your child will have an excused absence.
What do I tell my child about Play Therapy?
It is important to prepare your children for their first visit to the playroom. You can tell your children they will be coming to play with a friendly helper in a room filled with toys and games! Children will likely ask why they have to go. It is natural for children to feel some uncertainty or anxiety. Offer them comfort, and tell them you want them to have a safe and special place to play. This can be exciting news for a child who typically has to share toys and attention with siblings!
What should my child wear to therapy?
The Play Therapy room contains a wide variety of toys so your children can express themselves however they desire. They will have access to paints and other potentially messy items, so please allow your children to wear clothing that can get soiled without worry.
What do I do after each session?
Although you may be curious, please refrain from asking your children about their special play time. Children are more likely to open up during session when they are not concerned about later reporting what they did or facing judgment. You can always talk with your child’s therapist if you have concerns or want to discuss a specific topic. Children may bring home something they create in session. Children’s artwork is an extension of their inner world, and you can respect this personal expression by acknowledging their creations without assigning any meaning of good/bad or pretty/ugly. You can comment on their artwork by describing what you see, such as “You drew a picture of two people and used lots of colors!” Making it possible for your children to regularly attend their sessions is the best way to support them and reinforce that their feelings matter.
Do you accept my insurance?
Currently Robi Heath is the only therapist who accepts BCBS Texas, Humana/LifeSync, and Superior Health Plan (Cenpatico). We will provide you with all necessary paperwork and submit paperwork if we are out of network. You may check to see if you have out of network coverage as most insurances will reimburse you a percentage of the cost if you do have this coverage as part of your policy.
What if I need to cancel or reschedule my appointment?
We are happy to reschedule with at least 24 hours notice. If an appointment is cancelled less than 24 hours prior or a client fails to show up there will be a fee charged for the missed appointment. For a Licensed Professional Counselor a fee of $100.00 for the missed appointment and for a Licensed Professional Counselor-Intern $75.00.
What ages do you serve?
Services for children start at age 2.
What is the difference between a Licensed Professional Counselor and Licensed Professional Counselor-Intern?
A Licensed Professional Counselor has a Master’s degree in Counseling and completed all requirements to practice independently. A Licensed Professional Counselor-Intern has a Master’s degree in Counseling, has passed the required tests to be a Licensed Professional Counselor and is required to complete 2,000 direct client hours under the supervision of a Licensed Professional Supervisor. A fully Licensed Professional Counselor is able to bill and utilize insurance as a form of payment for clients. At Kid Talk, our highly trained Licensed Professional Counselor-Interns offer a discounted rate of $75.00 per session.
